ANGRA Guitarist Comments On TARJA TURUNEN Collaboration
August 8, 2007ANGRA guitarist Kiko Loureiro has commented on his recently recorded guest appearance on the upcoming solo album from former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen, entitled "My Winter Storm".
Said Kiko: "An incomparable beautiful voice, an extremely talented artist, a perfect diva. Tarja always gave me a great impact every time I listened and saw her singing. I'm very glad to be invited to take part in her new album 'My Winter Storm'.
"When I got the call asking me to record some acoustics guitars on her album, I was thrilled. It is an honor to contribute on such good songs, recorded with a lot of caress, inspiration and passion, under a high quality of sounds and performances.
"My contribution to the album is with acoustic guitars. Tarja invited me to bring a little bit of the vibe I also use in ANGRA music, classical guitars atmospheres counterpointing with heavy guitars.
"We got an awesome result from this combination of her voice and nylon guitar. I’m sure everyone will like it!
"I recorded my parts in Brazil. First I tried different arrangements in order to Tarja choose what could be more suitable for her voice. After she was satisfied with the tone and arrangements, I recorded the final version and sent for her to sing over it."
"It was a pleasure to be able to have Kiko playing acoustic guitar in some of the songs," Tarja previously stated. "He added a wonderful taste that I was looking for. I am really proud because he really captured the spirit of my music and he was able to record this during the busy schedule of ANGRA."
NIGHTWISH fired Turunen via an "open letter," which was given to the singer immediately following a Helsinki show in October 2005. The group has since found a replacement vocalist, Swedish singer Anette Olzon, and is preparing to release the follow-up to 2004's "Once" in September.
